twin baby pattern suggestions sought

I recently found out a co-worker and his wife are expecting
identical twin girls in June. Thanks to new 3-D ultrasounds,
earlier this week, everyone in the office saw their sweet
little faces. It's amazing how much better this new technology
is than what was available even a few years ago!

Anyone have any suggestions for gift knitting for the two?

I'd suggest something not overly complicated or ridiculously
time consuming and not booties. Other than those two
guidelines, I'm open.

I look forward to your ideas!

Hats! I love the simple baby hat in Debbie Bliss's Baby Knits for Beginners. You can use up stash yarn for them. And they work up so quickly that you could knit each girl two or three hats in different sizes, so they'll be prepared when their heads grow!

great idea, Marsha. don't know if you remember all those jingle bells I have or not but hats, some with bells, were on my list of possibilities.

I'll have to check out that Debbie Bliss pattern. I'm a big fan of hers! thanks

I like the hat idea. Bibs are also nice. I posted an adaptation of the Mason-Dixon bib on our List site.
